before the injury Foster was in the top 3-4 in rushing first downs. Don't remember where he finished. He only had 3 20+ runs though, and one 40+.
    Williams had 5 20+ and no 40+.

Wasn’t Foster's very first carry as a rook in preseason about a 65 yard TD (vs. the skins I think)?

Preseason, made the ageless Darryl Green look like a punk.

Then the Pats went and stole our thunder by gang piling on him.

Part of it is going to have to be: Carr looks like an NFL starting QB, and not just a mobile bust with a strong arm.

Pre-season games don't mean shit when it comes to a team's starting QB. There will be no competition and stats in pre-season are worthless. Jake won't lose his job unless the Panthers are losing football games in the regular season and it will have to be obvious that it's his fault were losing.

I have to disagree that we are "rebuilding" our offense. We changed offensive coordinators and are making changes to meet his approach. Teams do that all the time. It's not rebuilding unless you want to say that most NFL teams "rebuild" every single season as new players are brought in and coaches change.

Actually I hear he's tailoring his approach to the talent (or that's the party line), but that's another subject. I don't see us as rebuilding either, btw. The OL was gonna be better than last year whoever was OC, and without Kalil getting drafted.

as far as losing your job in the preseason.....it happens all the time.....especially when a new offensive coach comes in and changes the offensive philosophy of the team. I don't want Jake to get replaced, but I don't think it's that far fetched. Teams do it all the time.

Carr may be better suited for the new offense.....if so.....Jake is done.....this coaching staff will bench anyone accept Smith or Peppers. No one is secure at this point look at the cuts and trades that have been proposed. Key is gone and Jenkins would be if there had been any takers. We are getting young and trying to reload with a new offense. That spells rebuilding to me.

Fox is feeling the heat otherwise Henning would still be here and we would still be pushing the offense that helped us to get to a Superbowl and 2 NFC championships.

I just can't agree with this statement. I does not happen all the time. In fact, I would suggest that solid, especially skill position players, very rarely lose jobs in the pre-season. Can you name any solid set QB's who were listed going into training camp as the clear #1 on a team who emerged from training camp losing a job. It just does not happen. If it does, it's a very very rare occurence. If Ryne Robinson scortches the field during the pre-season games and Steve Smith does nothing....who do you think will be the starter? Key starters just don't lose jobs in pre-season. Mediocure starters, aging veterans.....maybe....but generally never key starters. We will just have to disagree on the premise.
