Maybe someone should inform him that the workout bonus could pay for 175,000 junior bacon cheesebugers :idee:

It was discussed before that he's way overweight. Even last year. I'll agree wholeheartedly that Jenkins is the best DT this team has by far. Problem is he's not willing to report in to the trainers for them to keep him at a better playing weight. Being overweight not only slows him, but it also increases the chance of prolonged injury. I think the key is they want him to be on the field at his possible best. If he does that he's a monster, but slowed and injury prone at his salary he's not worth near as much.

I never said he was a piece of shit.

He's fuckin' out of shape. It's a pattern. He skipped the workouts because he didn't want to do the work. He did not goto his trainer in MD until word was out in the paper that he was on the block.

If he was awesome and worked to stay that way, we wouldn't be trading him. His cap figure is low, he's young, and he's a great player. The reason his ass is on the block is because he's as lazy as he has always been, and the FO saw it as an opportunity to 'sell high.'

I hope it works as a motivator. I hope he saw how nobody thought he was worth a first round pick.

Pro bowl in 2003, 2004, and 2007. I would say he is awesome and that is the only pattern that matters.

If Jenkins was on the trading block only because he is lazy, then why is he still here? They could have gotten a 2nd rounder from St. Louis, at least. If they just wanted to dump him because they are unhappy, a 2nd rounder would have been more than enough compensation. The truth is, all this talk of the team wanting to dump him is 100% speculation by fans and reporters. More than likely, it was purely a business decision to free up money to sign Peppers and Smith to new deals and had very little to do with what kind of shape he's in, although, it could be argued that this is a wake up call for Jenkins to change his off season habits, which really makes it a win win situation for the Panthers regardless of all the speculation.

No one ever bitches about Steve Smith not participating in the off season workouts. Also, I don't trust what Rosinski says anymore...he has a chip on his shoulder from getting shitcanned over money a couple of years back.

Steve Smith's never shown up fat, but I totally agree. He and Keyshawn both elect not to show up. That's fine, them or anyone else, if they are accountable, it doesn't take away from the team, and they show up on time in shape.

yes, last year. Not this year. Find one actual reporting of him being overweight, and not speculation.

BTW, there are quite a few DT's in the NFL who are fat and stay that way throughout the season...it doesn't mean they can't play. To a guy as big as Jenkins, 20lbs either gained or lost, is like 5lbs or less to us regular folks. Jenkins can play at 340 and he's still quicker than alot of guys are at 300.
