Hey all, decided to go out and snap a few quick shots off just before sunset in my front yard. I'm sorry that i'm repeating a lot of subjects, i just dont have a lot to shoot right near buy. I'm really trying to work on color, composition and sharpness. Just generally trying to do everything better.

Both of these were shot with my Xti with 50mm 1.8 lens, no flash. Av mode, f2.5 1/200th. I wasnt paying attention and was shooting in .jpeg (large, fine). Obviously unsaturated the one image. The other just had the "auto Adjust" treatment in Photoshop Elements and i bumped up the midrange contrast 25%.

    Comments/critiques/crap gradly accepted and appreciated.

    Thanks.

like the truck shot. maybe reduce your depth of field even more, but i think it's cool.

the dog don't do much for me. not sure why. maybe too much room top and bottom? i dunno.

agreed. Too much headroom on the dog. If the tree was in full bloom, I'd likely feel differently. Like the bowtie, though.

Thanks, I'll tell him you like it. He's already full of himself, but he'll appreciate it anyway.

Seriously, thanks to all for the feedback.

I know very little about photography but I like the dog picture better than the truck picture.

You can wash trucks? Man, I've got mildew on mine.

I like the dog. I mean he looks like he's a cool dog. But I like the truck grill better. What drew your eye to it?

keep shooting the 50 at 1.8 and playing with the angles. the shallow DOF will allow you to isolate one element of your composition. get low, too. try to do a dog shot that we've never seen before.
