    I agree Carr may have the potential to be better than he has shown to date....


    I don't agree that Jake has capped out.......IMHO his best years are still in front of him.....

    I have to say an "educated" fan would not think you can make a determination between Delhomme and Carr in Training Camp! There is no way Jake can lose his starting job in training camp unless he is injured. The only way he can lose his job is losing on the football field during the regular season.

    Agreed. If we are blown out of the playoffs or if Jake is injured, we will see Carr. I don't see the problem. Carr should be an upgrade over Weinke.

    Also, I've read Jake state many times that he thrives under pressure. I would love to have someone that could push him. I don't think Carr will be that player in the next year or so. I do like the signing.

    Declare Jake the starter. Open competitions are usually messy, esp at QB. That doesnt mean the challenger can't beat the starter out. It does mean he has to come from behind. But they're evaluating players all the time.

    this is great.

    we have something to talk about for 5 months.....this should be a very fun offseason......all the speculation.....

    I like Jake and would like to think he is the starter, but I don't see us bringing in Carr as a Weinke type backup. As far as I'm concerned, this coaching staff has threatened Jake's starting position with this hire.

    You guys can argue all you want, but it's obvious that Carr is not a backup and will have a shot at the #1 position soon.

    It's not "obvious" in the least. It's pure speculation and nothing more, and it ignores clear cut facts.

    Jake was involved in getting him here. How do you reconcile that with the coaches "threatening his position"?

    With the talk last season from reputable souces (if I remember correctly it was Clayton?) about the team looking to upgrade the QB coupled with a new coordinator I don't think it's far fetched to believe he could be competing for the starting position.
