    DirecTV receivers are FREE usually...
The days of paying huge dollars for basic satellite receivers have been gone for a long time.

Paying for DVR receivers is another story. And connecting to your TV Tuner card is just a matter of connecting the outputs.

No, that's only for extra TiVo receivers.

DirecTV is so much better than cable it's not even close, but hey...to each his own...

the funny thing is that would I pay more for DirecTV than I would for Cable, but it actually comes out cheaper...especially when I have 3 DVR's and 5 receivers total...

What makes DirectTv better? I've never had anything to do with it so I don't know. Hell, until the first of this year all I have ever had was basic cable.:22_yikes:

    What makes DirectTv better?

yeah, y2, answer this. I keep looking for a reason to switch from TW but never can. TW has more hd content right now which is my no1 concern. My bill would be pretty much the same if I switched.

I had DirecTV once. Then I had a problem. I spent several hours crawling in the crawl space trying to find the problem. DirecTV wouldn't send someone to correct the problem.

That was that. We have TW phone, cable, internet. It breaks, they come.

Although I am sure the TV will not work later because I am gonna say this....

We've always been pretty happy with Comcast. It sucks to not have the NFL Sunday Ticket but I am not getting Direct TV just for that. Besides, I am happy getting ESPN's Game Plan. There's about 15 HD channels right now with more to come. Plus internet.

Hate to be a cable pimp, but there it is...

It's really a lot of little things. I had DirecTV for about 5 years in Fla and then had to deal with cable when I moved to an apartment for a while, then again in my house for a longer while, and I missed a lot of things, like a better picture for one. I really tried to give them a chance, but I couldn't take it anymore. I just like it better. The equipment works better, every station is 100% digital, there's more stations...and keep in mind, I have a 5 yr old, so there's also more for her to watch, but there's multiple Nicks, Disney, etc..., more HBO's, Showtimes, Starz, etc, and also I have 5 boxes, 3 of which are DVR's, so it works out a lot less...including not getting charged $3/month or whatever for a remote control. Plus I can go online and order a PPV and get the movie on every box in the house. That's kind of cool. They also now have the Mix channels.

DVR service is one price no matter how many DVR's you have, each additional reciever is $4.99/month, whether it's a DVR or plain reciever. I would pay a lot more with cable.

I don't have HD so I'm not sure about the amount of channels, but I'd much rather buy a DirecTV HD DVR for $299 then to rent it from TWC. In the long run, it works out cheaper even buying the equipment. A regular DVR is $99. I'm thinking about getting an HD though and upgrading the TV in the bedroom to a 37" LCD...

As far as DirecTV no sending someone out to fix your problem, I've personally never had an issue like that. I've had issue with TWC or Adelphia trying to get them to come out on a Saturday, but when they finally did, they drilled ridiculas holes and couldn't care less when I called to complain.
