Per square foot construction costs

What is a good price on home construction for a turn key job? I am hearing $135 to $150 per square foot from custom builders and $90 to $100 from a modular guy.

 

135-150 would be a very nice home on an expensive lot. Probably 2500-4000 sq ft. It should include many refinements such as granite counter tops, hardwoods throughout, upscale cabinets, and sophisticated trim accents. Edit....this would also be an all brick home.

90-100 will get you a nice starter home on a small lot, probably around 1400-1600 sq ft.
Edit...This is still a stick-built home, not a modular.

These prices are for the Hickory area.

 

I already own the land so I would think that should bring the price down. My land is between Wilkesboro and Lenoir on the Caldwell County side so it should be comparable to the Hickory market.

Do you know any builders that are good in this area?

 

I know many, as I am in the Building Material business. One in particular comes to mind that is finishing one up in that area.
