I think it is getting impossible to not consider Tiger Woods the greatest golfer of all time. Today he won his 7th straight stroke play tournament in San Diego. No golfer has dominated the sport the way he has and is. Not Jack, not Arnie, not Tom Watson, Not Hogan, Not Byron Nelson. He is the greatest of all time. :notworthy:

No doubt Tiger is beyond great. But is it easier for him than it was for the guys in the past now that golf clubs and balls have gotten so technically advanced?

I think that if anything the equipment advances have made it tougher to dominate. All the new advances in technology are designed to make the game easier. For example, the average shmo at your local club 20 years ago could kill one of those old wood drivers and get maybe 250 yards. Now with the hot shafts, and trampoline effect drivers the same guy, 20 years older, now with a beer gut can smack it 275.

The better question is whether or not it's straight

Straight is a relative term, do you mean ending up in the correct fairway?
    Chicks dig the long ball.

Tiger is the best of his time...
Jack is the best of his time...
Arnie is the best of his time...

and so on and so on...

IMO, Tiger should not be considered for player of the year, he doesn't play in enough events. What does he play in, probably half or less. Tiger doesn't need to play, he has all the money he needs. Now back in the day of Jack, Tom, Arnie they all had to play to servive. If Tiger had to play in as many events as the Jack & them did, he would fall apart. Tiger may have won his 7th event but who cares, from the start of this streak how many tournys have been played.

Also what could Jack and Arnie have done back in the day with today's equipment?
