getting some new, younger safeties couldn't hurt there. of course, having young linebackers shouldn't either, and here we are. Return guy(s) couldn't hurt, but most of them aren't Bates/Smart about coverage.

I dunno the solution to this one.

Mediocre is not acceptable from anyone. Henning has to go. Hopefully he won't take Fox with him.

Crossman is a disaster. He sounded like a good hire to me too, but he hasn't worked out.

I'd get rid of Maser too, for all the reasons mentioned.

Maybe Smitty will influence this. If I were him, I wouldnt resign with us until changes are made. Maybe someone will listen to him.

    my thoughts exactly!!

I was saying the exact same thing after the game last week when he threw the ball 60 times a game.. and then today we do the exact same thing.. i mean today they complain about our running yards only being like 46 but my gahh we ran it maybe 9 or 10 times the whole game? they said we ran it 5 times total in the first half.. but jake is the one that if any should be throwing that much.. but when we have him in there its like dan dont want him doing much so he runs it 500 times till the end when we have to throw and that forces jake to try and make a play and hes screwed.. is jim fassel still without a job? i mean i know he caught alot of crap in baltimore but i mean it cant be that much worse than how we're doing now..

Agreed. Henning being awful is not new. But it is acceptable to Fox. He has been bad for a long time and it is acceptable to Fox. If an offensive coaching change is made, we need to go outside the organization. I would like to see Jerry get involved and get us a coordinator not in the Fox mold. Fox showed the size of his balls down 17 with 7 seconds to go in the first half. I knew then we had no chance. So did every player on the field.

Dan Henning runs this offense the way Fox wants him to run it.

FYI...this offense would have to improve considerably to be worthy of being dubbed mediocre!

Henning is fine. A lot of people who honestly don't know much about football think they know enough to criticize the coaching, which is the same thing many of those same people do in Pop Warner or high school games where their little Johnny doesn't get to play enough. The few people actually capable of understanding an NFL gameplan and judging it have mostly concluded that Henning could stand to be a little more diverse but overall does a decent job. If we can upgrade there, I'll take it, but let's not just call for the guy to be strung up because most fans don't understand the nuances of NFL play-calling.

Just as an example, San Diego ran the same running play 18 times against Denver last week. The vast majority of your yards don't come from "fooling" anyone, it comes from lining up and executing. It bothers me a little that we run so many lead plays when we don't have the linemen for it, but I don't know whether to blame Henning or Hurney for that.

Anyway, mental mistakes and poor technique are where I think you look at the coaching. Certainly that's an issue with our quarterbacks, linebackers, and special teams especially. Every member of the coaching staff deserves some criticism and has some things to fix, but I don't think that many actually need to be replaced.

    just a question

are u saying that i dont understand the game? cause ive tried to see what henning is doing for a while but its like we dont have a gameplan .. san diego had a gameplan when they ran those plays like that.. i mean no other team is gonna put their back up in and in 2 weeks have him throw 100 passes.. i understand that its not ALL his fault.. but the coaches have a huge part to do with it.. i mean when they dont hurry and rush a play call to the field to run at end of first half.. and then we make a big play and then decide to do something? thats just stupid cause u just wasted 30 seconds

Fox deserves to have his scrotum scorched for sticking w/McCadam outside on punt team. That said, he`s in there, and he`s not performing. Fox and Hurney both deserve to be tortured senselessly for keeping McCadam and/or Ciurciu, and cutting Keith Adams. I will NEVER for the life of me understand that one.

I am not "blaming" Henning. I do think there could be better alternatives available at some point. Regardless, it will matter not if we do not improve up front. Horrid.
