The O skips a possession every time the D or STs score. That kills its yardage. Plus a number of bad games by Grossman. When he's on, the O can have plenty of yards, assuming it gets a turn with the ball.

Speaking of him, I thought the explanation that he was studying and thinking too much was interesting. I wonder if that's part of Jake's problem. He makes almost as many mistakes now as when he was a gun slinger in 2003, but he does not play with the passion anymore. I sure wish he would run more. It energizes him and the team. He's run for 2 1st downs all year. He used to run for that many in a game. One of them was v. the Eagles, so maybe he'll try more when (if) he comes back.

I grew up outside Chicago, and unlike Solarte, they are my team.

I think the Bears have a many different weaknesses. They have several key injuries in the defense and thus have given up a lot of yards.

Still, when it comes to the playoffs, what matters the most IMO is what team is clicking and has momentum. I think back to the Steelers last year. I think the Bears have it in them to get into a roll and win 2 games at home and make it to the Super Bowl.

As to Dallas and the Saints, I don't think they have the type of team to play in the cold weather. Not that they are afraid of the cold, but teams that rely on the passing game struggle historically in cold, windy games.

The Saints have a great tandem of McCallister/Bush, but if their passing game is negated because of the weather and they become one dimentional, they will struggle vs. the Bears.

The same can be said about the Cowboys. If they have to rely on Jones/Barber to win against the Bears, they will not be able to do it.

I think that the Bears have the inside track to the Super Bowl in the NFC. It doesn't mean they will win, obviously. Last year's game vs. the Panthers is a perfect example. But I do think that they have the best team in the NFC when playing at home.

I am not sure how the Saints can be considered one dimensional. Bree's is getting all the credit for being a good passer and his no name recievers making catches. But nobody should forget that Deuce has been on and healthy all season long and it would appear Bush is starting to get a nice feel for the speed of the NFL.

If you can run the ball, the weather is not going to decide the game

Jake's comments about "not having fun", etc do suggest that. It's a lot harder to have confidence when you're a high energy guy and things aren't going well. He's always been a guy who has to get in a rhythm, in an offense that doesn't always build a rhythm (v/s taking a shot).
And he didn't run for that many, but he did have 10, and 9, in 03 and 04. He did run 42 times in 03, and 25 or so in 04, 05.
I have suggested in the past that him taking off occasionally can get him fired up. Not unlike a good hit on Favre used to really put him in a zone.

The Bears offense is no-dimensional, and the Saints D is good enough. For some reason, everyone is slow coming around on the Saints, theyre playing some of the best football in the league right now.

Turbo is the most logical, sane, mature Bear fan I've encountered.

When did the Saints bandwagon fill up like this? I have to admit I’m late to the party because I spent the month after their bye week watching them get trashed by the AFC North. So I’m not really sure that this 3 week span against an Atlanta team that can’t pass, a Tampa team that couldn’t do anything on O against 11 TBR folks and a Dallas team that looked a little flat to me makes them the front runner.

Serious question though – I was gonna ask it yesterday. Have y’all – the forum in general – spent a lot of time pimping the Saints before last week and I just missed it? Or did everyone wake up Monday morning and just anoint them after seeing the game on Sunday? Sorta like how Dallas had been anointed the two weeks before that?

Here’s what I see that’s bad: A defense that is only 24th against the run while having played Cleveland (30th rushing O), Green Bay (20th), and Tampa twice (29th)? Yikes. Carson Palmer looked like he was doing 7-on-7 drills against them. Pitt trampled them. They stopped SF two weeks ago, but I’d put SF in the same category as Atlanta. Put another way, the Saints remind me of the Colts. I wouldn't trust the Colts at Chicago in January either. Not sure I trust them anywhere.

Had the idiots at Soldier Field been more like Turbo, I would still be associated with the fan base.
