I live on High Rock Lake. Until Time Warner decided to run their cable to our area we received 2 fuzzy channels. I purchased a dish and was never happy with it. Rain, wind, neighbors trees and no local programming (at the time. I was glad to see TWC awarded the franchise. They made a considerable investment in getting cable to our area. I'm happy but I would like the NFL channel. I think i will work out soon.

The thing is, any specific time someone says something derogatory about cable television, you seem to be a little defensive.

I should point out that I would love the NFL Network as well....why the suits are wrangling over it, I have no idea.

We have cable and to get what we have now on dish it would be more then we're paying. Certainly now that TWC bought Adelphia it will probably go up, but my husband has checked several times and cable has always been more economical for us. I've had cable forever because we were a test household way back when no one had ever heard of cable nor could you get it. It was kind of cool to go to school and talk about all the stuff we watched knowing no one else COULD watch it.:headbang:

So you had a dish...those test markets were most commonly a cable line coming from a dish located nearby. :dead-horse-fast2:

But the point is not everyone CAN switch. Alot of people are stuck with cable and just have to sit and wait. Id change if i could but i cant.

You COULD, but it might take more money than it's worth. If you got "a clear view of the southern sky" you shouldn't have a problem. Otherwise, you might have to put the dish on your roof (cheap) or build a tower high enough to get a clear signal (depending on logistics, could be $$$).

My neighbors trees look like they would give me trouble, but they don't. Only really severe weather, like "get your ass in the basement" type weather takes my dish out. Maybe once every 3-4 months we'll have an hour or so where there is a little interference from the atmoshpere, but those are rare and not really intrusive.

The dish has to have an unobstructed view of the southwest sky (where the satellite is).
