I'm pretty sure that Steelers players care about their fans. We are known as the most intense in the league and no matter now much we spend on our shirts, some of that goes into their pockets, which is an incentive for them to play better. The Steelers consistently have jersey sales in the upper echelon of the league with Roethlisberger, Ward, and Polamalu.

I thought this was rather funny: (from Ron Green, Jr.'s column on Charlotte.com) :

KANSAS CITY at PITTSBURGH: What do Ben Roethlisberger and Barry Manilow have in common?

Neither has thrown a touchdown pass this season.

    Steelers 20, Chiefs 14

The Steelers are the reigning world champions and the best organization in professional sports. The Rooney family is old school, fair, and stable. They don't pay out the ass for headcases that destroy team chemistry, they don't turn on each other when times are tough, they don't fire the coach for one or two bad seasons, they don't even have cheerleaders. They like to win with hardnosed defense and ball control, and they wear black.

Win or lose, I'd rather be a Steelers fan than any other team in the league because they run their team like I would run a team if I owned one, and until someone else wins one, they are the Super Bowl Champions, so fuck the fuck off.

I have nothing bad to say about the Steelers organization. Rooney is on the top of the list of great owners. Going back from the current roster to the old days I cannot think of one Steeler player that pisses me off in any way. And I cannot judge thier fans and stadium because that place is still on my to do list.

However my problem is with the arrogant asshats that are road fans. The times we have had the Steeler games in Charlotte have been the worst of times. Only during a Steeler game did 8 people in my group have fights with 2 going to the hospital for treatment. Only during a Steeler game did all of our beer and food get stolen right from the parking lot. Only during a Steeler game did nearly $5000 in damage result in scratches, tire punctures, broken windows and graffiti on a few vehicles in OUR parking lot. This year we are going to prepare some suprises for those road terrorists. They are truly worse than Raider and Cowboy fans...

Steelers, Browns, Packers, Lions, Bears, Jets and Giants all do not have cheerleaders. Does that not just follow right along the rust belt?

Packers usually have local high school cheerleaders, which seems cute until you think about Mark Chmura having played for them.

Ah yes, I remember that from my visit in 1999.
