Just wondering - how many games have you been to in other stadiums?

I think it does matter. Paul Allen spent a lot of money to mimic the acoustic nightmare that is Husky stadium. In my brief D1 career I got to experience that place on a rocking Saturday from the field and it was a freaking nightmare. Had to get a bunch of sweaty guys writing notes to each other on white boards just to discuss things on the sidelines.

At least the Panthers have not had to generate crowd noise during the course of a game.

In a sale of 1-32 in the year 2006, I would rate this place a solid 20th best. If things go well and we get back into the playoffs at home, we crack the top 10. Will be ever be top 10 all time regardless? I kinda doubt it, but I will have to wait and see what it is like when all the kids around our tailgate are running things and I am just some old man talking about the old days.

Is it as simplistic as PSL ownership? Not really, PSL's are quite en vogue now. That is a simple class warfare analysis of the situation. I have my own rather deep opinions about the current status of fandom and am going to save that for my blog tomorrow..

how many NFL games have you been to outside of Charlotte? all you can go on is what you read and hear. Pantherfanz and I have first hand knowledge of what it is like in other NFL stadiums. Are we the best fans in the league? No. No one will dispute that. We could certainly be better and I think that as the fan base evolves into the next decade or two. but to say we suck when you have no first hand knowledge of what other teams' fans are like is unfair to the fanbase in Charlotte.

No fucking way. I've been to both Dallas playoff games and we were definitely a lot louder, but every other stadium gets louder too. There's no way that we're top 10 at any point.

    Grandpa:
I don't have to go to every stadium in the league to know where we stand anymore than I need to attend the concerts to know that Children of Bodom are louder than Fiona Apple. I've talked to fans of other teams, read accounts from various media sources, and heard the differences on broadcast TV. Sure, being there would be better, but there are only a handful of people who even dispute the idea that our fans fucking suck. You know why? Because they do. They (meaning Charlotte fans) suck at basketball and baseball games too.

Heck, 5% of the ticket buyers never even made it thru the turnstiles yesterday. (3715 of 73,298)

    4.5% for the Falcons game.

Whenever you wonder why I get mad at you, think about the times when you make stupid statements like this one. Name me one stadium in the league that doesn't get louder come playoff time. You are an idiot who contributes nothing and constantly questions everything. Just shut the fuck up and go away if you're not going to actually post something of your own.

It's true, though. Everything picks up during the postseason.

I've seen and met several good Panther fans, though. We obviously have some rich assholes who probably can't tell a field goal from a free throw, but many stadiums do, and lumping eveyone else into that categorie is wrong.

    you calling me grandpa? please.

all you have to go by is what you read and hear. i have been there. i know first hand what it is like. i watched the Vikings fans sit on their fucking hands for two quarters three games ago. I watched the giants fans run out of the stadium in the third quarter this past january. i could go on and on...but i don't have to.

you have your definition of suck. but it is flawed and all you can do is talk about various media sources rather than your own eyes and ears.

stick to breaking down tape because you are a fish out of water here.

edit: i don't think that Fanz was implying that a home crowd in the playoffs would crack the top 10. what he is saying is that with continued success, the crowds at all games would be better.
