Line play and execution today - the two keys, the only two keys. The defensive line has to blow up the Saints' fairly weak OL, getting them in longer pass situations, and keeping them from using Bush as much as an outlet. If they want to use Bush as a deeper receiver, I'd expect that, but we don't want them getting safe, quick passes out to him and leaving us having to tackle him in space. I do believe we match up well against them on the lines, and they don't have a lot of secondary blockers worth keeping in if we start blitzing. Still, Brees gets the ball out quick, and he has a lot of options - he's only been sacked 5 times, so pressure is good but going all out for the sack or blitzing him all the time? No.

Which leads back to the other point - execution. Zone reads, zone drops, tackle. Defensively we can't afford to have a bunch of mistakes and a handful of big plays going for us. We have to be more solid than powerful or aggressive.

Offensively, we match up allright inside, they do have a good rotation of DTs that includes Willie Whitehead coming in for Young and Thomas, they stop the run well but we should have some success there. We're quick on angles, we're stronger up front than in years past, and if we can get a flow going, there should be cutbacks. I like us running weakside with Gross leading Smith to the sideline, Wahle stoning Young inside, and simply cutting off pursuit with secondary blockers to take out guys like Shanle. I would prefer running there to running at Grant/Fujita, but they can be run on as well. I'd expect to see Key in motion a lot, depending on how much Carter can play outside.

Grant might be a tough assignment for Fordham, but with a TE chip there shouldn't be a huge problem there. Smith on Gross might not be a bad matchup for us, Smith is still working mostly outside moves and probably won't consistently bull Gross inside, so it's just up to Gross to be able to stay on his corner and give Jake enough time.

made them wear their black jerseys as expected

Keyshawn over 10,000 receiving yards for his career...nice PA pass. That's a 'short' pass if you were wondering.

Nice bull by Deshaun on 2nd and 2, too.
