I missed this the first time.

Also, there were rumors of a "closed door meeting" with Mark Richardson.

    What the hell?

I can't imagine them calling him on the carpet for that, bad as it was.

Could be a coincidence, a meet was already scheduled about something else. What exactly was the rumor?

pretty much all I told you. The meeting was with Mark, not Jerry. I don't know if The Old Man still does it, but he always had weekly meetings with our head coaches before. Why Mark's involved now, I don't know.

I'm glad that JR's helping deal with his successor now rather than later, but I worry for when that team gets handed down to him and Jon (and know the two will probably ruin this team with infighting) unless he gives them strict guidelines for what's going to happen after he's gone.

Either way, the team apology is maybe a bit much, but obviously, this is something that's more than just Fox throwing himself on the grenade. It's not him taking responsibility for something he didn't know about or didn't have a hand in.

That sure was an ill-timed terribly executed play. But can you imagine how conservative were gonna be now.

It'd be nice to see us actually pull a trick play off. I dont remember a whole lot working in our entire existance. We even have problems executing flea-flickers.

This is a team that has always seemed to find ways to lose some of the games they "should win" if you can call any game that. And with a tough second half of the season, I was looking at many of the first games as "must wins". This team especially needs to not get down to the last few games facing elimination from playoffs for any loss. Let's hope come January they're not sitting home kicking around that Minnesota game all over again.

Carter has 18 yards on two returns this year. Not great, but good. To me, "successful" on end arounds/reverses equals first downs.
Smith has 8 first downs rushing in his career and 1 TD, and one in the playoffs. We ran 4 reverses in playoffs 2003.

We just don't execute the throwing ones. Foster has an incomplete pass, as does Proehl, Smith, Dee Brown, Sauerbrun.

Fox's team apology may do some good. When the top dog steps up and takes blame, guys with any maturity will start taking a closer look at what THEY could have done better as well. Sure some guys are going to take it as absolution, but hopefully few if any on this team. Sometimes throwing yourself on the sword can rally your troops behind you.

Mark Richardson is in charge of deciding what color pants the Panthers will wear.

And the thing is i dont really think of reverses, end-arounds or flea flickers as trick plays. They're pretty darn simple plays to execute, that is the ball doesnt actually travel that far out of hand other then the final throw of the flicker.
