    Not to make excuses for Jake, but I think he is really pushing to hard. We need #89 on the field because he seems to be the comfort zone Jake needs. I know he is frustrated but this is when Rodney Peete could calm him down a couple of years ago.

    You don't get to the NFL "always" throwing off your back foot. You can't even start in high school doing that.

    I don't mean "always" as in he never steps into his throws. I'm saying he's always had the problem of not stepping into his throws consistently, and he has. He did in '03, '04, '05, and this season. As for getting to the NFL, you'd be surprised at how many professional quarterbacks have bad to terrible mechanics. Jake is one of the worst, but Eli Manning is particularly bad about throwing off the back foot as well. Cutler was at Vanderbilt, but did a better job in preseason. Some guys do it instinctively and some need to consciously remind themselves to do it on every throw.
