Evidence, proof, whatever. It was a damn designed play.

I used to write for the school newspaper as an excuse to spend after school time with the hottest girl in my school who just happened to be the editor. But professionally nothing except for some technical chapters in a few resource kit guides published by the press arm of my company. This is strictly hobby stuff, but as I get older I would like to try and parlay it into something more...As for the educated piece. I am not smart, I am just damned skilled with a search engine!

Welp I saw this half way into things, but quite seriously I do not care what they practiced. I am sure they practiced a half back pass at some point, but that was not done. I am not going to be blinded by the well practiced spin Meister's of the Panthers front office. They are taking care of their boy, and I respect that.

But regardless, I still find my point relevant in that even if practiced, it was executed poorly and more importantly at the wrong time. There was no tactical advantage to be gained by calling the play. Lets look at it another way. Say the play worked, and Marshall made it all the way to the endzone for the score. The Vikings would be down, but not out. They would have had lots of time to get something together. Our defense was dominant, but you are asking them to play the whole field again. If the Panthers sat on the ball, they could have at worst gone 3 and out and punted. Valuable time would tick off the clock and there would be no momentum shift.

John Fox always talks about controlling the clock and field position. This call is 180 degrees from his core philosophy. Sorry, I ain't buying it unless someone finds out he has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia.

There's no denying this wasn't the smart call.
And there's no denying that Fox has a hand in when we take shots, and when we call tricks. All head coaches do. We called two reverses already this year. We throw deep far more than we really should. To say we're not conservative, no, we are and always will be, but that doesn't forbid this call from happening, however ill-timed and ill-executed.

I was talking more about the vocabulary and the pacing. Anyone can come up with references, but unfortunately too many people aren't good at writing in a polished, readable manner.

exactly what I (and probably everyone else) thought they were going to do. I was watching the game about 30 minutes behind real time. Got a voice message from a friend "Gamble is a f'n idiot" I kept waiting for him to do something dumb and thought just missed whatever he did....and then boom goes the dynamite

    Yeah, enjoyed that Fanz.

This reminds me of Watergate: who knew what and when did they know it?

Let's say/acknowlege Fox knew they play was on the table for the week. Did he know it was gonna be run then?

Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat him as he could be, and he will become what he should be. Jimmy Johnson

I will go down to my grave believing that it was a play practiced but not for that point in time in the game. Coach is now trying to salvage the situation by protecting his man.

Motivational words aren't proof. "Give a man a fish, and he eats today." doesn't mean Fox was coaching Gamble on flyfishing.
He knew it was happening. It doesn't change what happened on the field, but John Fox isn't a liar.
