The #3 quarterback is always considered inactive on gameday. He can enter the game in the case of an injury. He's an emergency player.

bas actually progressed thru some reads. even on lefors completions he stared down the receiver the whole way. i see that as a big difference.

That was as much pressure as either of those guys is going to play under for a while and LeFors folded while Basenez shone. I agree with those who saw the "it" quality.

If necessary I believe Basenez could do well enough to win for us as a game manager, given we establish a strong running game to help him out.

Anyway, I really enjoyed watching the kid play last night.

Almost always. You can make your 3rd stringer active, but its almost never done. Kordell Stewart was the exception I remember.

Didn't they have to list him as a WR to do that, though? I thought the 3rd QB was inactive by definition in the rulebook, but maybe not.

Was Randle El considered the 3rd QB at Pittsburgh last year?

I'm not going to run out and buy a Basenez jersey but if it was my decision I'd keep the kid based on last night. Even when Steve B was bitching about the short throws on the GAME WINNING DRIVE he was also saying that Bas was just going thru his progression and hitting the open target.

I don't believe so, anymore. Last one might've been Walter Young.
