When did we make that offer? If it was after he hit the market and after the new CBA then it does not surprise me that he turned it down. If we had spent the money to sign him back when we signed Morgan, instead of spending it on Morgan, we might have got him for the same price we paid to Morgan. Who knows but one thing I am sure of is that I would rather have Spoon than Morgan.

Yes and no. From what I've heard, he's made a few plays, blown a few plays, but steadily getting better. Typical rookie, I guess.

Got bonked on the head again!

Hard hit puts LB Morgan on the sidelines
By Darin Gantt The Herald - Updated 08/23/06 - 12:16 AM

CHARLOTTE -- Carolina Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan was held out of practice Tuesday after getting hit in the head in last weekend's game in Jacksonville.

Morgan, who's battled concussion and post-concussion problems on the past, was pulled from the game briefly. He went through Monday's non-padded practice in Spartanburg, but since the Panthers went in full pads Tuesday, he was held out for precautionary reasons.

"He got dinged in the game a little bit, so we just held him out of contact today," Panthers coach John Fox said.

Morgan missed seven complete games and parts of several others in 2003 and 2004 because of concussion-related problems. Since then, he's changed brands of helmets and had wisdom teeth pulled, all in an effort to stay on the field.

Second-year linebacker Adam Seward worked through training camp as Morgan's backup, though veteran Chris Draft has subbed for Morgan in the past.

Why did we extend him again?

I'm setting the over/under at 2 seasons before Morgan has to retire from concussions.

    Two seasons?

You never, ever fully recover from the type of concussions that Morgan has suffered. Two seasons is far too optimistic. He will be very fortunate not to wind up in the hospital before Christmas.. . and don't even speculate on his life 25 years from now.

Interesting that Seward is filling in for him. I am not so sure we would have much drop off if Seward played.
