    Don Johnson IS Sonny Crockett.

There is a buddy cop show on DirecTV called Fastlane. They try and be all Miami Vice to the point of using some of the same background music. I can't believe they did that.

DVR'd the pilot that was aired about 2 saturdays ago. It was a trip to see the clothes they wore and remembering wearing that shit, or at least some of it (the japanese sleveless T-shirts for example). I laffed during most of it tho, the opening scene was straight out of Beat it, shat myself when a second later one of the thugs called Tubbs Micheal Jackson.

But i new this new version was gonna suck when not only were Ferrell and Fox cast but they dropped the theme music. That was sacriligious.

Judging by the reviews and reading a lot of Mann's interview stuff it appears that he was simply hell bent on not recreating the TV show for the movie and placed all his energy in that single task. I do not have much of a problem with the casting. Jamie Foxx was a good choice, he is a great actor. I probably could find several other choices besides Collin Ferell as Crocket. In fact just thinking about it I would have opted for a smart ass southern guy for the role. Matthew McConaughey or Harry Connick Jr could have pulled it off.

Mann just seems to have lots of regrets and bitterness about the TV Show. Jan Hammer wrote an updated version of the theme, however Mann refused to have the old theme in the movie. Too bad, since Jan Hammers new theme is fast becoming a hit across terrestrial radio. His interviews are constantly talking about how the TV show did not show the true deep and dark world of undercover police work. Well honestly it was pretty dark in an 80's glam sort of way, however adding in small amounts of humour was a welcome addition to each of the episodes. People do to movies to be entertained. If we want a couple of hours of dark reality CNN is always on.

I will rent it in video when it comes out, but it is said Mann did not relish the success of his TV show and make it into a great movie.
