Hmmm, perhaps they are finally getting around to bumping it up to 50k watts!!!!!!! Weren't the station bigwigs promising a stronger stick back in . . .

    1998   ? ? ? ?

So, with this new tweak in the signal will this mean folks in Belmont, Davidson, Harrisburg, & Wingate will be able to hear WFNZ programming a teeny, tiny bit better now than vs. before  ? Why spend a small sum of money on improving the signal reception out on Radio Road when its only going to get you a couple of hundered more listeners ?

    SDS...

It would be nearly impossible to increase WFNZ to much more than their current daytime power of 5 KW.

It is no secret that they are doing much needed maintance to the transmitter site. They have replaced the transmitter and have purchased a new phasor. They are also replacing each tower's tuning unit and feed lines. A new ground system is also being installed.

Will all of these improvement increase WFNZ's coverage area? Maybe a little here and there. The main thing it will do is give them a good base line to see if an increase is possible.

I've been able to get the station in Wilmington on several occasions and get clear reception halfway to Columbia and to Statesville. I don't see what the problem is.

I can hear it in either vehicle to Fort Mill. Haven't tried lately from inside, but if I were desperate there's always the internet.
