    When seeing prices like this online, I wonder if you can trust these companies.

    If you are seriously looking to buy a camera, get a Popular Photography, or Petersen's Photographic Magazine and try the Certified delears listings in the back. My first choice is B&H Photo & Video.

    If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

    Newegg.com is rated very high with thousands of customers' positive feedbacks.

    IMHO, you don't need 8MP. I have been shooting with 6MP for 4 years. I shot with a Canon 8MP a few times and I can't tell the difference between the two when looking at the prints. You might see a difference if you do some excessive cropping or making 20x30 enlargements. But if you are making 8x10 or smaller, all you need is 4MP.

    Buying a higher MP camera, is like getting digital cable for a CRT TV. You won't see the quality of higher resolution.

    To answer your original question, Olympus makes a decent camera. I would go with a Nikon, Canon or Fuji though. More expandability with cheaper lenses and accessories.

    The only way I would go with an olympus camera is if it just felt better in my hands and if I found it easer to use than the others. That is what's most important to me. Why buy an expensive fancy car if you are not comfortable driving it? Always go to a store and "test drive" one first.

    that's good to hear, the 6MP was the one draw back I was having about the camera I'm about to order...the Canon SD700. It's $464 at buy.com

    I bought my Nikon D100 SLR body on Ebay for $700. It costs $1500 new.
