CHICAGO (AP) -- The Seattle Seahawks acquired veteran safety Mike Green from the Chicago Bears for a sixth-round draft pick on Tuesday.

Taken with the and final pick in the 2000 draft from Northwestern State, Green had 437 total tackles (282 solo), six sacks, four interceptions and 27 pass breakups in six seasons with the Bears. Green was second on the team to linebacker Brian Urlacher with a career-high 138 tackles in 2002 and 132 in 2004.

No way in hell he would have signed that offer sheet w/o some assurances that he would have a shot at starting at CB. Furthermore, I don't think he's fit for S.

Possible, I guess. They could also kick one of their other incumbents back there, or just draft a safety.

Also should be interesting to see whether they put, for instance, Wesley there.

Perhaps I shouldn't eliminate RMJ at S based on height alone. He's tenacious enough. Good tackler. Wesley might be a nice fit at FS, based on his size.

I'd say Wesley goes to FS and Manning battles it out for the CB spot, but both could play FS.

Seems like an excellent pickup for Seattle.

I like the move for Seattle. Anyway, someone on that Bears board mentioned that the team was talking about moving Charles Tillman to safety. I think that's crazy, but giving Manning that contract was crazy too. Remember that they also have Mike Brown and Chris Harris.

I was one of the folks here who used to chime in for Wesley to be given a shot at FS for us but in retrospect I don't think he has the brain power needed to do much else but play special teams.
IMO he is going to look lost and get burnt as a Bear often enough to eventually relegate him to the same role that he played for us. However, I never considered RMJ as a safety and that just might work for them. I hope we end up with better options at safety than RMJ though.)

Chris Harris is average, and Mike Brown is a year older. They are no better at safety than us, or most teams.

I'd put Tillman or Wesley at safety before Manning, but I think they'll stick with Harris, anyway. I suppose Green will be insurence for Hamlin.
