No trades figured in at this point...

    ROUND 1

Houston – Reggie Bush/RB/USC - Would benefit from going with Ferguson or Williams, IMO. However, Bush is the popular pick.

New Orleans – D’Brickashaw Ferguson/OT/Virginia - Gives Brees a pair of bookends and the Saints solidify thier O-line for years to come.

Tennessee – Matt Leinart/QB/USC - Sure they like Volek and Mauck, but they are afterall Volek and Mauck. Leinart gives them a big step in thier rebuilding the offense.

N.Y. Jets – Mario Williams/DE/NC State - They will be exstatic if he is there for them. Consistent against the run and will get the QB dirty.

Green Bay - AJ Hawk/LB/Ohio State - The attitude LB the Pack has needed with all the athletic tools of a skill position player.

San Francisco – Vernon Davis/TE/Maryland - A freak of nature, here's to hoping his measurables add up on the field. Adds a dimension Smith needs to have a chance to be sucessful.

Oakland – Michael Huff/DB/Texas - They could go safety later and not be hurt to bad by it, but Huff is a special player who can play CB in a pinch.

Buffalo - Haloti Ngata/DT/Oregon - Improves thier run D just by taking up space.

Detroit – Jimmy Williams/DB/Virginia Tech - The Lions are thin at CB and Williams will push Kieth Smith or could move to FS if needed.

Arizona – Jay Cutler/QB/Texas - Could go Young as well, either way, they go QB here, they can develop him.

St. Louis – Ernie Simms/LB/Florida State - Another speedy LB who shouldn't have too much trouble pushing Chillar to the bench.

Cleveland – Tamba Hali/DE/Penn State - Solid all-round DE to fill a serious need, they would have liked to see Jimmy Williams here or could go for Tye Hill.

Baltimore – Winston Justice/OT/USC - Will start out at RT and give them a great pair of bookends until Ogden starts to slide.

Philadelphia – Kamerion Wimbley/DE/FSU - Don't really like this pick for them, doesn't seem a good fit. However the Eagles do need to get better at DE.

Denver (from Atlanta) – Chad Jackson/WR/Florida - They're disappointed in Watts and Lelie. Jackson will either push one of them to keep thier job or take it.

Miami – Tye Hill/CB/Clemson - Should start right away and has return skills if Welker or Minor should fall.

Minnesota – Donte Whitner/SS/Ohio State - Adds a big hitting presence to an already ball hawking secondary.

Dallas – Broderick Bunkley/DT/Florida State - Should have been taken sooner, but needs pushed him down a few spots. Dallas may not need him all that bad, but won't pass on him.

San Diego – Santonio Holmes/WR/Ohio State - Will likley start out in the slot, but should push Parker.

Kansas City – Vince Young/QB/Texas - Still think this is too early for Young, but the Chiefs will take a chance and let him sit and learn behing Green.

New England – DeAngelo Williams/RB/Memphis - Dillon has shown signs of age and Williams is a great fit for this offense.

San Francisco (from Washington through Denver) – Marcus McNeil/OL/Auburn - They need help at both OT and OG. While McNiel can't fill both needs, he'll fill one.

Tampa Bay – DeMico Ryans/LB/Alabama - Upgrade over Nece. Don't really see a glaring need for the Bucs unless they figure out Simms isn't the answer.

Cincinnati – Gabe Watson/DT/Michigan - Helps the run D, and if motivated he can be dominant.

N.Y. Giants – Chad Greenway/LB/Iowa - Yeah, they got Arrington and Short signed, but the rest of their OLB's should be on the street and Greenway is an upgrade over Short.

Chicago – Leonard Pope/TE/Georgia - The Bears need a TE that can get open and create something more consistently. Pope gives them that with decent blocking skills.

Carolina – Lendale White/RB/USC - Would have rather gone with Carpenter, but it appears that the Panthers are comfortable with an OLB emerging from the scrum. White has had his issues leading up to the draft, but I think once in the league, he will be motivated to work.

Jacksonville – Bobby Carpenter/LB/Ohio State - Kind of like looking in a mirror for Del Rio...good at everything great at nothing, consistent.

N.Y. Jets (from Denver) – Davin Joseph/OG/Oklahoma - The Jets were terrible up front in '05. Joseph gives them a solid interior presence.

Indianapolis – Laurence Maroney/RB/Minnesota - Although he looks very lean, Maroney is an excellent athlete with good vision and patience as a runner. Plus, he should be able to add bulk.

Seattle – Darnell Bing/S/USC - They could probably move down and still get Allen or Simpson. Upgrade over Pruitt

Pittsburgh – Sinorice Moss/WR/Miami (FL) - Probably a slot WR and return man, but could push for the starting job.

I heard Gil Brandt say Saturday on Sirius that McNeil has been diagnosed with stenosis (narrowing) of the spinal cord -- the same thing that ended Michael Irvin's career.

And he can send Thomas Davis a thank you note for hurrying the diagnosis.

Maybe that was a bit of insider information that ol' Gil wasn't supposed to air. I have noticed that McNeil's hype has diminished substantially over the past week or so, and he's dropped on a lot of mocks.
