Someone on, I think, the email list, was gushing over Maroney right after the Lendale drama kicked into high gear, and I forget who the first comparison was, but it was a much stouter back, like Edgerrin - and then someone corrected him, saying Maroney was much more like LT. I dunno. If anything, he's a poor man's Portis, but this is why I hate comparisons.

I don't see Deangelo that much like Emmitt. For one, he's more shifty. I've heard Westbrook, which isn't exact but maybe in a different system, it fits. Westbrook's 4 inches taller, but they remind me of each other.

I don't find Williams to be like Westbrook at all. Westbrook has greater first step explosion than either Williams or Smith, but both of those guys show far better patience in setting up blocks and using superior vision to pick their holes. I think if you can review some film of Smith, you'll see that he was shifty behind the line and did an excellent job of using his movement to get defenders out of position. Williams operates in much the same way, where he will ride the pocket of his blocker and flash to one side, bringing the defender to that gap and allowing the blocker to get an angle on him, before shifting back to the other side and the now vacated area.
