Cable Internet real slow....

    My cable internet is really slow these days. Could an old modem be the problem? I think I bought the modem in 2002. Called the company and they said everything was fine on their end. My signal is strong some times and then really slow at other times.

    Cable is a shared resource. The more people on the slower it'll get...any new housing developments in your area?

    I built the PC last year but the modem is about 5 years old. I bought a brand new modem yesterday and now the signal isn't strong enough. I'm starting to think that was the problem all along. Oh well.

    Well it wasn't the damn modem so I just wasted some money. Seems the signal is to weak for some reason. The cable guy is coming today "from 2-5" whatever that means. Oh, did I mention the other dude that came last week stole my other modem? I've called twice to have it returned and nothing. I think I'm going to be an asshole about it just on principle.
