I dont think so, i think teams are wising up that its not the only way to go. But it still comes down to scouting, i mean, Fox took a hell of a gamble with Delhomme his second year here. Not financially but look who he was hitching his wagon too so early, Weinke, Peete and Delhomme. Usually HC's bring their guy in quickly. Luckily that worked out for us. Now maybe had Delhomme failed in 03, cause Peete flamed out early, he would have drafted a QB high in 04. We could have ended up with Manning, Rivers or Rothlisberger.

Its about making sure these QB's selected in the top 10 are actually top 10 talent. Not guys that rise due to need or are flashy becasue they can throw the ball on their knees.

If Manning/Rothlisberger/Palmer/Rivers keep developing your likely to see a trend going back to QB being drafted early too. In 5 years, they'll be saying all these great 1st round QBs' selected in the draft. That's how you do it.

I think Leinert deserves to go early and i think he'll make a fine pro. The other two guys have alot more to work on.

This is just a hunch, but if the draft palyed out like this I think the Panthers would take White. His size and ability to score would be too great to pass up. Fox mentioned that his focus is always film and not so much on workouts..........just a hunch

Vince Young is too obvious for the bust category, so Huff would make a good choice. I think he follows the Quentin Jammer route where three years later fans say, "He went in the top 10? Really?" Something makes me nervous about Ngata too, although being a run stopper really only involves girth and a modicum of effort. If he isn't completely lazy, he should be ok, but I've read enough things about his inconsistency to have questions. Florida WRs are obviously another easy target as well.

I think you're right that attitudes toward drafting QBs will change based on perception, but my long term study and others undoubtedly like it have shown that it's generally a bad idea. That doesn't mean you never do it, as a Peyton Manning or Leinart are too skilled and solid to have much chance of busting, but I would never take a QB project in the high first, no matter how talented.

I think I read that the Bills have said Ngata will not fit their system and will not be their choice.

Actually the article is saying that he'd be a great fit and that they hope the Bills get him: "Haloti Ngata was born to play the 0 technique in a cover 2." and "There is little doubt he will be a perennial all pro somewhere, Bills fans should hope it is in Buffalo."

I think the article was seeking to dispel the rumors that Ngata wouldn't fit the new defense in Buffalo (rumors I hadn't even heard, but I don't troll draft sites the way I used to).

Oh, and I really appreciate that Don Banks didn't put shitty ass Eric Winston in his first round.

Yes. That must not have been the article. I know I read an article that said he would not be their pick. It may be what was referenced in the beginning of that article. Heck..it could have been simply stated in a draft site.......I can not remember.........I did read it............maybe I just dreamed it.....
