Probably the best acquisition this franchise has ever made.

Remember that day we brought him in for his first interview. Blue tie and coldsore lips. We were all like....who the hell is this guy?

That marriage started perfectly tho, with the Peppers draft.

I think that John Fox is THE best coach in the NFL today! Even 2 years ago with all the players in IR he almost made the playoffs. If the Panthers didn't do this now, someone would have swooped in (Washington?) would have done it in 2 years.

Teams very, very rarely just let coaches that they like and/or want, to walk. Most coaches get extensions within one year of their deal ending even if they're not all that deserving.

Lately, when they do allow coaches whom the like, the ability to leave, they get compensated for it if they're under contract but can't work something out (which is rare).

[magnus]it's obviously back-loaded, we wont pay the roster bonus in 2008, so this is basically a 2 year deal.[/magnus]

Shoot, you can pay Fox $10 million a year for all I care. If it doesn't affect the salary cap and thus our ability to be successful in future seasons, they can spend all the money they have. That said, I'll recount the fact that I was not at all impressed with the initial hiring of Fox. I wasn't against him either, but I never would have thought he'd be this good. Major kudos to Jerry.
