Looking into this for the 'rents, and SunRocket is looking like the best price/performance choice. Anyone else got experience or knowledge about this stuff?

I know several people with Vonage. Key criteria is exactly how does their 911 access work and how good is the call quality, then price.

I use Time/Warner packaged with cable and high speed internet access. The phone performance is fine - only been down for short periods of time - twice after a power outage in the area. (VOIP never works when there is no power unless you have a back up power device because the modem won't work).

I think I could buy high speed cheaper than RR (but it is never down in my area) and VOIP cheaper but then I would have two more bills to pay.

At work we have decided to not do any more VOIP (Bellsouth and Cisco) because of poor performance in three of four installations but these are multi line multiple handset applications.

AT&T Callvantage. *Not* the cheapest, but it has the most standard features I've seen on the market, and you only use the internet to connect to their local switch, after that, you're on the regular (Bell), single telephone network, as opposed to bouncing all over random servers on the net. I like that idea better.

I had vonage. It worked fine for the year I used it. Sound quality was fine. 911 was up to you to enter the correct address into their database. And I only cancelled it because I could fax thru email cheaper.

I might add that the 911 issue isn't an issue for Time Warner - they have what they call enhanced 911.

We also have all the features we had with BellSouth - caller ID, call waiting, voice mail etc.

We have been told we can't use VOIP to FAX but the feature is coming soon.

I also understand we can't have multiple lines at one address but they are working on that feature also.

I am seriously thinking about Vonage. Earthlink also has one for the same 24.99 a month. How can TWC expect to keep people when they are charging 15 dollars more

I don't think the Vonage price includes taxes and fees - make sure you check the total price.

TWC gives me a $10 discount on RR for bundling.

I just switched. Vonnage works great so far. No problems and I'm only running around 640kbps. My phone/dsl bill was $110 a month, now cable and Vonnage $55 a month.
