I have a windows media center PC that records file in a .ddvr-ms file. I want to be able to edit this video (To take out commercials and such) and put on my ipod. What software should I use?

good luck on the iPod part (oh the joys of tightly proprietary crap), but the editing of Media Center content is easy.

    search for DCUT.

ipod video is just a special codec (and under certain size restraints). i think it's h264 or something. anyway, there are programs out there that supposedly convert to this format, but i've not had a ton of success doing it. videora is one i've tried and autogordian knot is another. this was a while ago, so maybe they're working better these days.

Converting the video to MP4 format is easy, I us PQ DVD to Ipod. You can copy DVD's or select most videos to convert. The only thing I want to do is edit the media center video to strip commercials. I will check out what you said Bootay. Thanks!

    http://handbrake.m0k.org/

read about it and see if it may help. Handbrake allows you to stick a dvd in, convert it to a movie, maybe a mp4 file. Take this file into Quicktime Pro which lets you convert into several different types of files ....... ipod, quicktime movie, etc.

sort of off topic, but i finally got a nice system in place for playing tivo movies off my pc. directivo units don't officially support the mrv/hmo stuff, but there are hacks than enable that functionality. it's nice cuz it'll even serve up ipod format (converts on the fly) so the lost episodes that i was playing off my ipod (and having issues with) now play directly on my tivo!
