I hear all the time, " Carolina needs to pick up a good WR or RB in the first rounds of the draft."

    To me this is BS.

You are have a reliable WR squad lead by Steve Smith. Last season Carter showed that he can step up and be a big time player for Carolina when Smith is doubled.

RB? You have Foster who is more accident prone than Dan Morgan. True. But, Goings is an athelete where he is a solid 2nd string RB. Maybe pick up a late draft pick RB in my opinion to solidify the backfield.

If you look back to the Rosebowl game the 2 players overlooked were Texas's 2 offensive tackles. They won the game single handedly for Texas. Who you think sprung the block for the last run in in OT to win the game?

We need to get a powerhouse O-line and we pretty much solidified the D-Line with the recent signing.

Any RB can be a star runningback or MVP with a superior O-Line. Same for a QB with ample time to throw the ball without a hand in his face.

I do not think anyone other than Smith is reliable or particularly good. I like Carter's speed but at times he almost seems lacking in eye hand coordination. Colbert's year last year would have to be titled "The Lost Year" because he virtually disappeared for most of it.

What's more, I do not think Smith can reproduce last year's numbers especially with our current crew of WRS and it seems as though the draft is relatively weak at the WR position.

watch more than one college game next year.

Jon Scott's actually a pretty decent tackle, though. We aren't in the market for a starting tackle, and Scott will not likely go anywhere near 27, and of course we have more than one pick, but welcome to the board, and wear a helmet if you're going to post a bunch before sitting back and reading for a bit.

Welcome, but we draft Defense on the Panthers. And watch out on this board as you're opinions will first be challenged, if they don't improve they will be laughed at, then eventually ignored.

Here is a tip, send Collin a PM telling him you think we should start Thomas Davis at SLB.

...and after every free agent acquisition, start a new post asking how this will affect our draft strategy. The more threads the better!

Welcome buddy - you'll be hard pressed to find a better site for informed Panther opinions.

That's an oversimplification, but an offensive line absolutely can make a RB or QB look a lot better than they actually are. That's why a lot of us wanted Nick Mangold before we signed Hartwig, but now we really don't have any place to add a lineman in the first round. No tackles or guards in this draft are really worth a late first anyway, but we wouldn't have a place to play them at this point.

2 OT sINGLEHANDEDLY? (Damn cap lock) Wouldn't that be duo-handedly (Sp) Anyway 2 verses 11 is pretty strong.
    ;)

Welcome to the board. That and I wouldn't mind another strong OLman either but not in round 1
