maybe they should have played someone. Best teams they played were N. Iowa, Creighton and Arkansas. All losses.

Missouri Valley getting 4 bids was ridiculous.

RPI is junk and should be eliminated entirely.

they played 12 of their 28 games vs. teams ranked in the top 50 RPI....although they went 4-8 in those games, they did not load up on cup cakes. they followed the formula for what ever its supposed to take to get over-riding consideration but yet they get screwed. they have a greater argument than some of the teams who actually got in. as compared to air force? who got an at-large bid. they played 1 game vs. top 50 opponents and lost that game. their non-conference schedule ranked 273 as compared to 41 for missouri state. utah state 46 RPI an 11 seed? 105 strength of schedule and 1-2 vs. top 50 gets an at-large bid over them? something doesnt add up here.

Weren't almost all of those 12 other Missouri Valley teams? When an entire league bloats its RPI rating by exploiting the way it's calculated, it no longer has any meaning for individual teams in that league. The fact is that Missouri State didn't play anyone worth a damn by any non-RPI measure, and they certainly didn't beat any non-confrence teams worth a crap. I mean, come on, their best non-conference was Oral Roberts. That said, I'm betting that Air Force got in because the committee wanted to reward a military academy.

According to Bruce Pearl, the MVC instituted a rule that none of its teams could schedule a game with a team with an RPI worse than 150. sounds like they figured out how to beat the system. it worked for 4 teams, but not MSU.

How exactly is this "beating the system"? This sounds to me more like beefing up your nonconference schedules, which is a better thing than getting a fat record beating up shitty teams.

Maybe not "beating the system" but more along the lines of "playing the game" correctly. They got four in but the seeds aren't all that great. One of the things like about the NCAA tournament is it gives the underdogs a chance.
