My CPU fan pretty much roars and it's time to find a quieter one. I'm looking for one that's as close to silent as possible and willing to spend up to maybe $30.

    The CPU is a P4 1.5 (socket 478 on a Gigabyte GA-81DXH mobo).

Does anyone have suggestions on what to get and where to get it?

    TIA.

Online, CompUSA, just about anywhere. My power supplies/fans always got loud right before they gave out.

Yeah, I've been looking online a bit, but figured there would be someone on here that would have something specific to recommend from experience.

And I don't necessarily think mine is getting ready to die as it's been pretty loud since I got it. Just decided it's time to find something quieter.

http://www.atd-inc.com/ We've bought stuff from here before and always had good success with it. They're off of Harris Blvd.

Ya did good. I went from big cool-looking noisy stuff in my PC's to small, quiet, tuck it away stuff...

With quiet fans, bigger is better. That looks like a 92mm, which is goodness. I've currently got a 120mm on an adapter to move more air but turn the fan at slower speeds, and therefore make less noise. I also put in a cheap zalman fan speed adapter to I can externally adjust the fans - case fans and CPU (I got a fanless 6600GT video card). Quiet is gold.
