It wouldn't hurt, but the Lions do have problems far beyond the quaterback position. Brees, assuming he is the same player post-surgery, and post LT, could perhaps help Detroit pocket a few more wins. But he wouldn't have any sort or miracle-working impact until they fixed the o-line, and found some receivers who are worth a damn.

Yes! That's it! They should draft more recievers!!!!!!!

They need maturity and a line on offense.

    Franchising Backus was odd.

They absolutely should not draft another reciever, but it wouldn't hurt to find a solid starter in free agency. As of now, they have:

Roy Williams - good player, but has trouble staying on the field
Mike Williams - looked unreliable and lost; may never be successful at the pro level
Charles Rogers - drug problems, health problems
    Scotty Vines

Honestly there isn't much to like about Detroit at any position. They have some solid players on both sides of the ball, but a lot of weaknesses too, and nothing that stands out as an obvious strength.

From what they (the Lions coaches) are telling everyone, Harrington will be their guy (which I know makes Boo cream his pants) at quarterback. They could persue a free agent, but I don't believe it will the high priority that everyone is suggesting.

Collin is pretty much right on, in that the Lions don't have much going for them in the way of personnel. I like Kevin Jones. I like Roy Williams' potential, if he can ever rid himself of DMS. Beyond that? The line was god-horrid, as we saw during our contest against Detroit. Jason Hanson is a fine placekicker. Bly and Rogers are very good, but those are about the only two impact players they have on defense. I would throw Wilkinson in there, except he's a lot closer to the end than he is to the beginning. Kennedy was somewhat of a dissapointment at S, and Fernando Bryant has been a clusterfuck of a signing. They are rumored to have interest in Ty Law, who they tried to get last summer. Might not be bad if they could snatch him this time around. Linebackers are okay, but the young fellas - Bailey and Lehman - can't seem to stay healthy enough to get a true assessment.

They shouldn't try to outdo themselves this offseason. It wouldn't hurt to add Law for a boatload, because we've seen how much of an impact that a stud cornerback can have. Other than that, I would just focus on adding more reliable depth. Find that compliment to Williams, whether it's Jurevicius (who knows Marinelli from the Tampa days), Givens or Finneran, I think it would help to have a veteran who can play worth a shit at that position.
