awesome. so, you went with the 42" EDTV?

what came with it? what extras did you have to buy? i've read that the visualapex guys put cables in there before shipping.

VisualApex puts in adapters from one component cable format to another, letting you use the most common type (BNC vs. RCA).

Your HD cable box and DVD player will most likely have component cables, and you'll only have a single input on the TV for component, so you might need to buy a DVI card for the TV and use the DVD or HD Cable box over DVI/HDMI. That might mean buying the card, the DVI/HDMI cable, and the component cables. Other than that, you'll need a stand or wall mount.

Haven't we been through this before?

hehe - if you want to have them oogle, go over to a higher-end store. They'll have the plasmas setup a lot nicer...and the price will blow your wife away. Then you go to VA and you're set. I'd absolutely buy local if they were 20% higher, but 100% higher+ is just crazy...

One of the issues is the local stores sell only the consumer models, which have some extra junk in the mix (speakers, stand, a big bezel around the TV in the case of the Panasonic), but they charge a huge premium for that...

You CANNOT go wrong buying a panasonic plasma from VA. Just pick a size and do it, you'll be happy. Other places on the net have decent prices too, but I've NEVER heard of a dissatisfied customer from VA (and I've referred at least 10 people there that have bought, including my parents and Meat :)).

Guy came out last night. It wasn't the cable, it was the HDMI. Apparently the boxes that TW got from Scientific Atlanta don't have the HDMI fully enabled. So I gotta return that HDMI card and go with component. :banginghe

Didn't want to go through the entire thread but can you put one of these things above a fireplace? Have a new house and perfect spot for a new flatscreen. Does it matter if it's gas logs or regular wood buring fireplace? Thanx.
