hard to say. I do think he'd do well to have more dump options, and a more consistent methodology; I'd hate to lose his deep ball but most WCOs are smart enough to use it (a la 1999 here). I think he'd succeed, though he succeeds quite well here when the offense isn't extremely limited, though it tends to happen here more than I'd like. He's a guy who should be, theoretically, throwing more, but not quite as many chucks downfield without other options available.

    Thanks Mags.

I agree that Delhomme's deep ball is something that should always be utilized. There are times that he makes some horrific decisions. But for each of those, there are times where he make some of the sickest throws from the most awkward of angles.

I'm not a big fan of Sean Salisbury, but a couple of years ago, he demonstated (on NFL Live's set) how Delhomme is able to sneak balls into tight spaces, based on the fact that he can throw a tight spiral from multiple arm angles. It was interesting, which you can't say everyday about Salisbury.

Jake needs not to force the ball. INTs are never good. Throw to the checkdowns. But he needs somewhere to throw to more down the field.

    >>But my question is if Smitty has 4 guys on him, why would you throw to him? Is it lack of confidence in the other receivers.

Perhaps, but they weren't open. From my vantage point in the nosebleeds, open recievers were not had, which is sad considering they had single coverage a lot of the time.

    We had Smith, tripled.

We had Colbert, who does not appear to have the ability to get open.

We had 76-year old Dick Proehl.

We had Drew Carter, the only guy who made plays.

No one was open. The played Cover 2 all night. Guess what happens when you gain 37 yards rushing against C2? Anyone?

    Ya lose.

Could it be even possible that maybe some of the reason the other wideouts who were all in single coverage, yet still covered, was maybe as much the routes they were asked to run with the defense they were using rather than some lack of talent? The seahags have not got a full compliment of shut down cover doods. Their secondary just ain't that dang good. And if our dood are that bad, cut all of em except smith. every one, cause they suck.

I love how everything is always the coaching staff's fault and never the player's.

Point is....the secondary did not have to be great.

Didn't see a whole lot of man coverage. Like I said, and like Foxy said, they played a ton of C2. We could not establish any sort of running game against a C2. When that happens, it's over before it starts.

    Piss on Mitchell/Reyes for a half-hearted, half-assed effort.
