I thought Best Buy warranties didn't cover consumable items such as replacement bulbs.

dave, did the best buy warranty really cover the lamp for your tv? i am in the same situation (lamp in the process of dying now) but i was told that the best buy warranty didn't cover "consumable" items such as bulbs. thanks.

it is covered in the best buy warranty. They didnt even question or hesitate to send the lamp. Told me it would take 8 -10 business days but it is already in the concord fedex facility. may be having gameday at my house afterall! .

I'm going to order another in 6 months or so to have as back up.

So they didn't even have to come out and look at it? You just called customer service, told them your lamp was dead and they sent you a new one?

a service guy couldnt get here until jan 24th. that wasnt good enough because im a super bowl party and was afraid it wouldnt be fixed in time. the CSR asked me if I thought I could change it myself and I said yes. She transferred me to parts and that was pretty much it. its a decent sized bulb and there is only one. shouldnt be too hard to take the screws off the back of the tv and pull the matching part.
