:woohoo: Could MVP Alexander end up with Panthers next season?

CHARLOTTE — Could Shaun Alexander be a Carolina Panthers next season?
It’s dangerous to read too much into this from the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, but when the soon-to-be free agent was asked Wednesday about his relationship with former teammate Ken Lucas, he had a mighty interesting response.
“I definitely was sad (when Lucas left Seattle),” Alexander said. “But that at the same time, who knows if I am going to be here (in Seattle) or not? I told him you never know, I might be out there (in Carolina) with you.”
    Hmmm.
It’s mind-boggling to imagine how good the Panthers might be on offense if you paired Alexander with wide receiver Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme on offense.
Right now Alexander, 28, is the Seahawks’ franchise player, but as part of his agreement to return to Seattle this year to play under a one-year contract, the team agreed it would not use the tag on him again next season. That basically means Alexander controls whether or not he wants to re-sign with Seattle this offseason or move on.
The rumor is Alexander wouldn’t mind going to a venue where he’s more in the national spotlight.
Obviously, Alexander would come at a huge cost and it’s tough to say if the Panthers would be willing to spend that much money under the NFL salary cap.
But if they decide to make a run, Lucas might have some pull with Alexander since the two are close friends.
“Whenever you lose a teammate it’s rough, when you lose a friend its worse. I’m partial to Ken ... we sat next to each other on the plane,” Alexander said. “We always talked about football and life and about getting all the recognition he deserves.
“I just think the world of him, I think he’s a great guy and I think he is showing the world how good he is. I still cheer for him every time he’s out there on the field just locking people up, breaking off the ball, making plays. It’s kind of like watching your little brother grow into a superstar. It’s an awesome feeling.”
The Seahawks are attempting to re-sign Alexander before he hits the open market, but negotiations are on hold until after the season. That said, it’s hard not to imagine Seattle doing everything they can to re-sign arguably the game’s best running back.

That quote should read like this:

"I think he is a great guy and all but I love me some me and if I can earn a couple million more playing for the Iowa Barnstormers then that's what I need to do, I got to feed my family ya know"

I say there is no chance he suits up for the Panthers next year. I don't mean to say Alexander is a selfish self absorbed ass like TO, but what player goes to a new team for less money because of a previous team mate? None.

I hate crap like this before a playoff game. It's psychoogical warfare. He's just trying to create dissent and fuck with our team chemistry.

Not sure how effective it is with Foster being out.

And yet there is a bunch of words doing just that as a precurser to this statement.

No cap room to sign him even if we wanted to. The Panthers are going to have to get creative to just resign Witherspoon [if they can] and get under the cap.

Other than us already being 1 million over a projected cap of 93 million and having a few key free agents to try to keep (WW, McCree and Foster) even speculation to get Alexander is all a pipe dream. Go after Ahman Green at a cheap price and tell him to prove his worth

Well, that kills any chance of him coming here.
