I can't remember who it was but I recently heard an interview with a player facing his former team. The player basically said that players aren't really asked for input on their former teams becuase they already have tons of film and a staff of people to break it down. The staff would know more about an opposing teams offense than a defensive player for that team would.

Sounds like a good smoke screen. I used to be in the intel business and we had satellites, high speed aircraft recon missions, listening posts and humint agents all over eastern Europe. But let one Romanian private on KP duty walk across the border and he is immediatly interogated for 3 days...

well Chris Draft came up big in both our games against Atlanta and he said that having played against them everyday in practice, he knew what to expect against them. (i.e. when to expect the cutbacks)

Actually, I believe it was him.

How much time to you think a defense studies, schemes and practices for stopping their own offense?

Coaches will know the scheme better than former players, but players will know the tendencies of their former teammates better.

And those tendencies can be a HUGE advantage.

Especially if he can give stuff on Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck scares me.

Saw an article with Hasselback in one of the Seattle rags. He said he invested a lot in Lucas as a player, helped him understand what the O was trying to do against him. It also said Lucas ran routes to get a sense for that, probably with Hasselback throwing to him. It couldn't hurt.
