Punting was definitely bad for Chicago.

I would have considered going for the first down. With the touchback, we ony gained 14 yards of field position on the punt. If we could have converted and gone down to put some more points on the board, we really could have taken the wind out of their sails. If we didn't convert, we wouldn't be giving up great field position or anything. 52 yards is too long for a field goal attempt in Chicago.

With it expected to be a defensive, field position game though, I understand why Fox punted.

Only if you have a shitty punter like they do.

Well, early in the game if you're leading, a punt is a good thing. But, if you're behind and desparate late, then you go for it on 4th down. Normally, Kasay's money on a 50 yder, but with the green sand and poor footing, just punt it, pin them back on their own turf and make them beat you with the run or the pass. It's not in Foxy's nature to go for it on 4th and inches except on rare occasions.

Kasay was kept because he was a vet, and was more trustworthy. I'd keep him

That's something I pointed out last week. Not that the game came down to the punters going blow for blow, but Baker had a solid game and Maynard kicked like shit. It was a major factor in the field position volley.
