As for the sacks - 8 is terrible, 4 is still bad, but 4 of the 8 sacks were on the last futile drive.

Here's a big problem. 2nd and decent, two runs, and nothing. Forget that we didn't attempt one pass, that's not that big a deal. This team should be able to get 4 yards in 2 tries.

 

Agreesome. I think a major reason we lost is because Henning took 2 1/2 quarters to figure out we couldn't run at Ted Washington. :banginghe

 

That's as good a reason as any for how we beat NY. A lot of those drives were over 6 minutes, some over 8 (I think). Reminded me a lot of Parcells' Giants back in '91.

 

That's the first time I've seen the drive chart for the CHI game. Good Lord, that must've been ugly to watch. For once, I'm glad it didn't air out here.

Magnus is right -- we definitely didn't give them any reason to respect us in head-to-head competition. Let's hope they keep fueling that arrogance so it'll hurt more when they get socked in the mouth on Sunday.

 

In case you were wondering, that would be an attempt every .022 seconds.

 

Stephen Davis couldn't run on the Bears, but Davis couldn't run on anyone this season. The point is that we can't stop running even if it isn't working initially. Of course you don't run on every single down, but consistently making the effort even if you're only getting an average of 3 yards will mean both that you have dramatically decreased risk of turnovers and that you're wearing down a very aggressive but somewhat undersized defense. And yeah, hasbeen, running at Ted Washington isn't the brightest move. Obviously tosses aren't going to work particularly well given Chicago's speed, but we can attack those ends with something off-tackle.

 

We couldn't run on them.

 

Except in the red zone, right?

 

I think we've pretty much proven that Foster's ypc go down the more we run him. Throwing additional attempts when it isn't working isn't going to change the way the game is going.
