Culpepper is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL, and he can be phenomenal when given the proper direction and scheme. The contract makes me skittish, but otherwise he's definitely an upgrade for almost any team in the NFL.

Culpepper will not be traded. That would just be stoopid.

No way they’d trade him to someone in their division…let alone the NFC.

He was terrible this year prior to getting hurt. Defenses were playing them completely different with no randy moss to worry about…he was seeing stuff he’d never seen before and he didn’t know how to handle it.

When he does comeback, if doesn’t have the running ability he had before his knee injury, he won’t be the same QB.

A healthy Culpepper in Miami would make the Dolphins instant AFC contenders. The Dolphins went 9-7 with Gus Frerrote at QB, and he couldn't throw the deep ball to save his life.

You may not be doing this, but media and fans who attribute Culpepper's decline to the loss of Moss are ignorant. It's a simple explanation, but when you look at the facts, it's quite clearly the wrong one. Culpepper had one of the best seasons ever by a QB in '04, and he played most of that season either without Moss or with him obviously injured. The difference between '04 and '05 Culpepper can be more correctly attributed to injuries along the offensive line, and more importantly, the loss of Scott Linehan. The offense this season was not structured enough, and left Culpepper with too much decision-making. That's not a recipe for success for him, as that tends to lead to turnovers, especially when he's pressing and/or pressured. He needs a system with more narrowly defined reads in which he can check his first and second options, then relatively quickly go to his checkdown receiver, usually a TE short or a RB in the flat. Do that and he can get back to being one of the top QBs in the league.

Why do you think Brad Johnson had success this season and Culpepper struggled? Did the decision-making play in to Johnson's strengths or did the Vikings recover from injuries? I do not really know much about Steve Loney except for he seems to have a lot of experience and success on the college level.

I think Brad Johnson was able to be a calming influence on that team. He did not put up great stats but he was good leader and limited his mistakes.

Culpepper has a lot of talent and last year proved to me he can be an effective QB even if he never leaves the pocket. He is way better than Vick, IMHO. He does need the right situation though and this year in Minnesota he did not have it.

Yes. Linehan going was a mistake from the start, for MN, but they really didn't have a chance.
