pc or operator error

    I was doing microsoft updates.. the process stopped and said i needed to turm system restore on.. ok i did.... the process continued and went to restart... all i'm getting is the reboot back to start windows normally screen with the other prompts listed.. safe mode etc... i have tried each prompt.. still just recycles back to the same screen again... and i tried to use the xp disk also to see if i could get it to repair...
    nothing happened..
    any ideas of what to do ...

    this is an older Celeron 1.7mhz.... 256mb ram....

    Did you try the "Last Known Good Configuration" option?

    Something very similar happened to mine a few weeks ago. A friend of mine who's also a tech said my motherboard was fried. I bought a new PC last week. :)

    I think it's a software problem. Normally when motherboards are fried your PC won't even boot.

    yes.. i have tried all the prompts on that page .. last known , safe mode , normally , networking and with command prompts..,

    i cant even get into the set-up menu..
    i have tried all the F Keys..

    everything worked just fine until i got the message during the update to turn the system restore on.. once i rebooted it wouldnt finish booting up...
