Four Carolina Panthers were selected to the Pro Bowl on Wednesday.

Quarterback Jake Delhomme, wide receiver Steve Smith, offensive guard Mike Wahle, and defensive end Julius Peppers were selected to the NFC squad for the All star game in Hawaii after the season.

Punter Jason Baker is a first alternate to the NFC Pro Bowl squad. Special teams player Karl Hankton, middle linebacker Dan Morgan and return man Steve Smith are second alternates. Safety Mike Minter and cornerback Ken Lucas are third alternates.

    Props to Jason Baker.

Don't quite see how Ken Lucas winds up a third alternate. Of course, if you ran into Ken Lucas in a Bi-Lo, you probably wouldn't know him from Adam. Guess that answers that.

JD is having a decent statistical year in a quarterback-thristy conference, so the fact that he landed a spot is none too shocking. 10-4 record as a starter doesn't hurt.

    Steve Smith's evil twin

Is the "wide receiver, Steve Smith" a different player than the "return man, Steve Smith?"

They'll probably just let wide receiver Steve Smith return the punts and leave return man Steve Smith out.
