I think Mag is saying that he does indeed have that.

Delhomme is horrible. He throws the ball up and hopes his receiver (aka Steve Smith) can go up and get it. If we didn't have Smitty we would be in trouble. I think we need to trade someone to get Matt Schaub or maybe even Rivers. ALthough an NC State fan, I think I'd rather have Schaub because he has played pretty well in the small amount of time he's had a chance.

Yeah, I'm sure the Falcons would just love to trade Schaub to a division rival.

Uhm, the second half of 2004, Jake Delhomme was the 3rd highest rated QB in the league. He had like 103.8 rating. He was only behind Peyton Manning, who was in the midst of a record setting year, and McNabb, who took his team to the Super Bowl.

I don't deny he had a good stretch from about week 9 to about week 16, which is a large reason Moose went to the Pro Bowl. But what I'm talking about is the intangibles he had in '03. Even though he started racking up the numbers in the second half of last year (and even occasionally this year), that twinkle in his eye, his mojo, whatever you want to call it has been fleeting, at best.

IMO, the fire Jake has/had is what makes him better than, say, Weinke.

Unfortunately, that fire and mojo is getting lost more and more, at the most inopportune times.

Weinke actually has a better arm, somewhat better accuracy, and doesn't get all fuked up under pressure.

The only thing Weinke was worse at, compared to Jake at times, is reading and descision making, and lack of the 'gunslinging'.

I'd have to say that since the SB loss, Jake has regressed (sure, a number of games he excelled last year, and even this year), he's become very inconsistent (well, he's always been a little inconsistent as best).

He does go thru his reads, but I ask:
How many planned 3 step drops with short passes, actually turn out to him holding the ball and not making a quick descision?

I'm not towing the Weinke line or think that he should start, but Weinke has been more consistent and solid (except just sfter he suffered the shoulder injury). Although, Weinke's consistency and solidness is not as good as Jake's good times, it is much better than Jake's bad times. Which seem to happen with more frequency at the worst moments.

I want solid and consistent, even if it's not as good as the best gunslinging. Especially if the gunslinging produces more shit than great things. Solid and consistent is really what the team is built for. We can't afford fukups and turnovers, nor lack of the big plays that ultimately are the reason for us winning games when we do.

I just want solid d and solid o, both as mistake free as possible, smacking people in the mouth and running over them.

I saw evidence of that in the mexicans game. But somehow it, as usuall, either disappeared or was really a marage.

The Chargers are going to want a mint for Rivers. I doubt the Panthers will even think about it.

    Coach Weis

This morning during an interview he was talking about the improvements of the ND qb. He said that he grasped the offensive quicker than expected and gave that as reason for ND success this year. He continued to to say that every coach should know that your offense has to be built around the strength of your QB.
