i'd prefer a non-ultrareligious kicker. he blames (praises, god's will type thing) god when they go through, and he probably secretly blames god when he misses. he's a nice guy, but he's a frikkin religious crackpot. he's made some mighty big kicks for us, but i'm always uncomfortable with his disposition of pre-determinism.

I have no idea why his religious feelings should matter, and I have no reason to believe that he believes that God's at fault at all for, well, anything.

elaborate?? damn dude the guy gets in a slump and you want to hang him. prior to these misses how many 50 yarders did he have?

we ought to be more worried about the lack of intensity week to week.

I'm one of the "we" who is worried about the lack of intensity week to week.

I'm also really worried about our kicker's lack of accuracy and consistency week to week. This is more than a slump. It started several years ago. Yeah, like the SB kickoff PP mentioned...or actually, the rash of injuries and key misses before that.

We shanked the ball when we kept Kasay over Shayne Graham. Go ahead, check out Graham's stats over in the 'Nati if you've got a strong stomach. For all the talk about "it's a tough business, we've gotta go with whoever helps us win football games" we went with the emotional "last original Panther" argument instead of the "best player" reasoning. And we still never bring in any serious camp competition.

Kasay was my favorite player...in 1996. That was then. This is now.

I don't want to hang him, the guy has a job here because he's supposed to be automatic from 40-50, and have a legit shot at attempts from 50+

He isn't either the last month, that's reason for concern when we play football John Fox style.

The game switched on that kick. I have been a Kasay fan but the KO in the SB basically gave the Pats a short field. We lost. The first of the season Kasay's KO were great know it's tough for him to get it to the 10 yd line. Houston we have a problem going into a critical part of the season. Can't Baker KO as well? We need the ball to be in the end zone to help our KO coverage.
