Smith had to make some spectacular catches to get most of those passes.

He has been that way every year, he locks in on one guy and that is where it is going.

I think a lot of teams have figured us out and this is another reason why we don't run the ball as well this year.

Teams know they need to stop what little run we have and Smith.

Even the times we make plays to other guys, teams don't care because they know that was their 1 or 2 catches for the game and are done.

BTW, Smith is fucking awesome! Fucker is catching all kinds of throws.

That's not the argument Mike. I love Smitty but there is a valid argument that too much of our offense goes through him. Like Plavich, he's been making the team one dimensional due to his talent. Yeah, I'll agree with you that he's much better than Plavich re: the talent gap between him and the next biggest offensive threat on the team.

Of course, it is a little bit of a chicken & the egg argument in that the rest of our offense is sucking and Fox won't make Foster the every down back.

it's one-dimensional becuase of the lack of talant elsewhere

I think he was thinking about the Dolphins.

I wish he'd throw it around some more so this would be more apparent.

    I think that's my beef/worry.

The Weinke episode vs Detroit, to me, didn't illustrate that Weinke should play (more), it illustrated that we might have more WR depth than we think. Proehl and Jake seem to be on completely different pages. I know Gardner's a bust, but Colbert was decent last year - what's changed?

If it does come down to choosing to keep going to our franchise wideout over a guy that's about to retire, no brainer, but still, I can't help thinking that we have other guys who can play and arent really getting a chance.

    I'd like to see:

Robertson return kicks over Smart for a game.

    Foster as our feature back.

Colbert getting some good passes thrown his way.

And what about Drew Carter? Does he suck that bad?

The team is entirely too conservative and reluctant/stubborn when it comes to making any changes in personel whatsoever. Whether it be within a game, season or pertaining to staff.
