on 4th down at the end with the defense smelling blood in the water, should we have gone for the field goal and then the onsides kick? (just to cool off that defense and since we needed 2 scores anyway)

i think we should have gone for a fg before that. needed 2 anyway and it all depended on the onside kick so why play.

they played at the end like they didn't even know they were two scores down...I don't know, maybe they thought they made that first FG

If that was a Parcel's team for example, he would have exploded right there on the sidelines.

The way they played would it have made any difference. Roll up the game film and start over for the NFC South lead

    Here's my biggest beef:

3rd and 11 for Chicago. Jones right side for no gain. Clock shows 4:29 on the blow of the whistle. At that very second, Fox should have used his second time out. At that point, that saves you nearly a full minute, knowing damn well that the offense is going to need to be in no-huddle anyway.

To me, that was just plain ignorant.

The delay of game on Delhomme was absolute bullshit. And I say that objectively. The play clock in his line of vision was never reset.

Also, waving off an obvious hold on Proehl to start the game was about the most insane shit I have ever seen.

I think the second FG choice was pretty much a toss-up, because I think the game was already lost at that point. It's the first one that bothers me. We weren't going to get two more possessions in scoring position, so we needed to go for it even in the difficult scenario of 4th and 13 from the 21.

But who are we kidding? The game was lost either way.

Said the exact same thing in chat. By kicking the field goal we basicly said our defense had to get TWO three and outs and our offense would have to all of a sudden move down the field for two scores. Yea the second one didnt really matter, it all depended on converting an onside kick anyway.

Yep. We were pissed about that. The second one was one I didnt even think about, but it poses an interesting point, about keeping us alive. I couldve dealt with that, although at the time I wouldve probably been so upset my jaw wouldve dropped. But there is logic to the second FG attempt.

Kasey's not so sure anymore, is he? Had he made the first one, we would be in a little better position as well.
