    Interesting

The cheap, TW Cable hating bastard in me is very intrigued by this. My boss's Sony LCD set actually picks up most of these stations without an antenna and they look phenomenal (plus they're free). But I don't know much else about it.

Most of the sports broadcasts I want are already broadcast OTA in HD in Charlotte. Might as well take advantage...

Anyone bought an antenna or have experience with this?

I live just over the line in Fort Mill, and I have a roof mounted antenna. I receive ABC, CBS, NBC, UPN, FOX, WB, and bunch of PBS stations OTA. I have no HD via cable. I really only wish I had ESPN and ESPN 2 on HD, but I will not pay my cable company for it. I do have basic cable. I am very happy with the antenna reception I get in the Charlotte area.

Do I need a special antenna? Can I pick it up in 480i? or does it have to be 720/1080i?

(I think my tv only does 480i)

There is really not a special antenna for receiving HD signals. You just need to make sure you got one that will work in your area. You may need a "larger" one or even an addon amplifier if the transmission tower is good ways off. Also, there are some antenna that will pick up only uhf or vhf (and some both along with fm). Look at the web site in the first post it is very helpful. You can also go to checkhd.com to see what show are being broadcast in HD in your area.
