Here is my solution to the Saints fiasco.

First, let the Saints move to LA and force Benson to sell to the LA group, ownership by many is usually better that ownership by one.

Second the NFL should finance a stadium to be built in New Orleans that can be used as the site of the super bowl. This would give the NFL a warm weather site, plus it is more centrally located in the country than say, Miami or Atlanta or some of the other reoccuring locations.

Third, this New Orleans stadium should be given free and clear to the city. To be used for college games, car shows, etc. giving them a way to make some money that would help to rebuild and then later earmarked to benefit the areas school system in the way tht lottery funds are used.

I think this is probably the best that the city of New Orleans could hope for, as the Saints are not coming back. This way tourism can be boosted and they can keep the "NFL city" prestige without having to sell seats that the population is not realisticly able to do. The PR boost that the NFL would recieve would be huge and Im fairly sure this league, that is a billion dollar a year business, can afford it.

Everyone that lives in New Orleans and the surrounding area realizes that nature is thier daddy, they all pack it up and move to LA with the Saints and give the swamp back to the gators and cajuns. Seems like a cheapy subsidy to me and you gain a shitload of fans from the mostly untapped enviornmentalists whacko segment

Ask the Atlanta Hawks how ownership by many worked for them

I doubt even Bill Gates would donate a multimillion dollar facility to a city for free, no strings attached. didn't the government alread allocate billions of taxpayer money for the recovery of a city I'll never visit?

Just take some of that shit...

Let the Saints move and let NOLA deal with it. They should not even be rebuilding that place anyway, it will just flood again one day.

Pretty funny even, that around here in the state of NC, you can't build in a 500 year flood plain- the county/city planning departments won't let you because it's against ordinances. Thus why in every appraisal you must include a FEMA Flood map panel with the subject property labeled on it.

But them folks down in LA are a wild bunch, and it's the gumment's (our) money anyway, so they can lax the rules I suppose.

Or the Green Bay Packers. Its not the ownership its the GM that they hire that determines the sucess of the franchise. On the plus side with multiple owners you have a larger monetary base to draw from, and one owner with a wild hair up his (or her) ass cant just pick up and move.

If that is true then what about up in Rocky Mount where it went under water a year or so ago and they rebuilt in the same spot?

Thelt, personally I agree with you, tear down the flood walls and let the water up to sea level where it belongs, then rebuild on dry land. But the reality of the situation is that the same mistakes are going to be repeated.
