My sis is looking into buying a new PS2 and just asked me if the games have regional settings like dvds? She had some games she bought when they lived in England and they are back in the states now.

    TIA

I don't know for sure, but I don't think they are... Where's she buying it from? They should know, or at least be able to look at the back of a game to see if there's a region code on there.

yes they do. A mod chip in the PS2 will fix it, but I'm betting she doesn't want risking it being tampered with. I'm not sure if the disks in England will work, but I do know you need a mod chip for PS2 games from Japan.

UK games = PAL format. Our PS2s won't play 'em, and vice versa.

Yea, region code doesnt even matter.

But as stated before, when mod-chipped, PAL games can be converted to NTSC fairly easily and copied games can be played, etc.

If she's still "looking" to buy a PS2, buy one of those that are already chipped from one of those chipping places.
